New Beginnings

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8:

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

This weekend, two precious families I know gave birth to new life. Welcome Eliana and Caiden! Same day, a dear family moved into their new home, to start a new chapter of their life. Exciting! This happens, though, on the heels of saying good-bye to a precious mom/grandma. Sorrow and joy, all in one. My dear friend and mentor is welcoming a new daughter into her family today, as her son, Mark, marries his beloved, Jill. What a season this is! New beginnings for so many of the people I love.

It seems only fitting that I recommit to blogging now, in this special season of new beginnings. God suspended my blogging a couple years ago, I think, to teach me some things. I’m not who I was then. That’s a good thing. To those who followed the old blog, I still believe that there is joy in the everyday of life and that we must seize it. Not miss out. But there’s so much more… Joy in life is discovering more of God in everything we encounter. Trusting Him when we don’t see the blessings of the moment. Growing closer to Him so those around us can know Him better too.

I rejoice with my friends as they discover new joy in the next chapter of their lives. May we each see the new beginning offered to us each day!
